Originally
from Camden, Arkansas, Richard was admitted to the
Arkansas Bar in 1978. He has an extensive
academic background. A principal at Womack,
Landis, Phelps & McNeill, he graduated cum laude with
a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ouachita Baptist
University in 1974, Richard is a longtime member of
that university's board of trustees. He went
on to earn a Master's degree from Baylor University,
attended Washington and Lee University, and
completed law school at the University of Arkansas
in 1978. A principal at Womack, Landis, Phelps
& McNeill, Richard is a member of the Craighead
County Bar Association (past president), the
Arkansas Bar Association, DRI, and the Arkansas
Association of Defense Counsel. Richard has
served as a Special Justice of the Arkansas Supreme
Court on three occasions. Richard's current
experience and areas of
practice include multi-district litigation involving
agricultural produces and machinery, trucking litigation, medical
injury, personal injury and products' liability.
Since 2004 he has included mediation and arbitration
as a growing part of his practice.
